The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a “resource for society” that provides the means to live a full, fulfilling life. Another definition by researchers in The Lancet focuses on health as the ability to adapt to new threats and infirmities.
What constitutes health? Health is defined in various ways, from the biomedical, social, and economic aspects, to the subjective sense of well-being. The World Health Organization (WHO) offers a widely accepted definition that links health to physical, mental, and social well-being, as well as the absence of infirmity. While some might consider this definition to be innovative and new, critics criticized it as vague, too broad, and impractical.
In general, we define health as “complete physical, mental, and social well-being.” People with chronic conditions or disabilities, however, may have different views. While a young girl with Down syndrome may think of health as a competitive swimming competition, a part-time job at the swimming pool, and healthy social relationships, a bipolar disorder sufferer may consider these factors to be indicators of health. And of course, there are many more ways to define health than one may think.

Other factors, such as adequate physical activity, eating habits, and hygienic practices, are also important. And remember to wash your hands regularly.
